The Perfect Burn
Straighten wick if wick has been bent from candle lid before lighting on first burn. No need to trim wick on first burn.
ALWAYS ensure a full melt pool on the first burn, by allowing the wax to melt to the edge of the container (about 2-3 hrs of burn time). This should prevent the wax from tunneling.
Trim wick leaving at least 1/4" inch before relighting candle. Keep wick clean and the wax pool free from any debris.
If flame gets too high, safely extinguish your candle, allow time for the wax to set. Once cooled and set, trim your wick to 1/4 inch and removed any debris from candle.
5+ hrs of burn time can cause wick to shift from center.
Jar Recycling Program
Return your cleaned, empty candle jars to the shop and receive $1 in store credit for every jar returned (minimum of 3) towards your purchase. Must be cleaned and bring 3 or more jars to recieve store credit.
How to Clean +
Reuse Jars
1.Remove ALL labels (on face and bottom of jar).
2. Place the jar in your oven at its lowest setting to melt any remaining wax
3. Carefully remove the jar from the oven and discard the melted wax
4. Pop out the wick holder using a spoon, and wipe the jar clean with a cloth or paper towel
5. Hand wash, rinse, dry, and reuse

Each and every candle is hand crafted and hand poured. Due to the nature of beeswax and a longer lasting burn than other waxes, the wick may tend to shift in the molten wax (away from the center) if candle is lit for more than 3-4 hours. If this occurs, snuff the lit wick to put out the flame, and trim off top of the wick if a ball has appeared (known as a “mushroom”). Be sure to remove any debris that has fallen. Give it a minute to allow wax to cool down a bit and using a wick dipper, tweezers or any metal (non-flammable) device to shift the wick back to the center candle of the jar before wax hardens and sets.

Always trim you wick before each burn (excluding the very first burn). You’ll see a natural curve to the wick where it has been burned. Simply trim off that piece, leaving behind an unburned straight wick. A well-trimmed wick creates a nice even burn and reduces the chance of tunneling (perimeter of wax left unburned).

Copper + Moss Studio candles and wicks have been tested and produced with the utmost safety. If your candle’s flame is being submerged into the wax with about 1/2”-3/4” wax left, this means your candle has reached it maximum burn time. Since the containers are made of glass, the wax keeps the temperature level. If there were little to no wax, with a wick still burning, this could cause the glass jar to break or shatter.
If you’re experiencing issues with your candle or wick (as this could happen to handpoured candles), please reach out at hello@copperandmossstudio and send pictures of your candle of concern. We will do our best to take care of your concerns!
